My colleague who has committed herself to not getting sick has noticed I am rarely ill and so she asked me what my secret is, and as I adjusted my mask I told her that I have no secret, and after staring at me she narrowed her eyes and said: I bet you meditate, is that it?
I must also confess that I don't understand at all why people ask AI to write things for them. Writing is part of the process of figuring out what I want to say, so by the time I know what I want to say, I'm already finished writing it. 🤷♀️
Now, that said, I don't entirely see why it needs to be crammed into every nook and cranny in the universe. I just use the chat interface and ask it questions. I don't need an AI word processor, AI microwave, AI toothbrush, etc. Speedrunning enshittification won't make anything better.
Despite the fact it makes mistakes, I find AI to be enormously useful for a variety of engineering and software type stuff. ChatGPT is helping me learn antenna design right now. And I was amazed that when you give ChatGPT a basic radio schematic, it will mostly interpret it correctly.
Conversion therapy destroys you. It's torture. I was waterboarded with vinegar until I said I was a boy and wanted to be a boy. I still have nightmares about it to this day.
My cat likes to scream “I WAAAANT” over and over again; unfortunately she’s never learned to be more specific… which makes fulfilling her demands a bit more difficult… 🥲
I need about four more brackets up on the wall, and all of them with screws, but I can only do a couple per week for health reasons. And some will need furniture to be moved. So... slow, steady progress! 🥳
There's also a separate bracket/basket to hold the balun up there.
I designed some little 240mm brackets to push the wire up to the ceiling while allowing me to anchor the bracket about 200mm lower, since I can't actually reach the ceiling. I printed a dozen of them. Two are screwed down, another 8 are up there with blue tape. There's still too much droop.
I have a 9:1 balun and about 45 feet of wire strung around the ceiling of my work room. I live in a stucco and chickenwire apartment so very little rf gets in except at the ceiling. There's also about 20-25 feet of counterpoise.
Wow, neat! I'm still in the process of putting up a long wire antenna; according to the antenna analyzer, in its current state it's pretty darn resonant on 20m! So maybe I can give that a try. Is there a schedule, or a good time, that I should try it? Or just randomly on that frequency?
I’m trying this! 🥳 I’ve heard the signals but so far nothing strong enough to decode. I’ve got a new antenna configuration to try for this afternoon’s pass. 🤞
I’m hoping to pick up some of the SSTV pictures they’re sending, but none of my antennas are quite as fancy as yours. I did hear some tones yesterday, though, so maybe.
