It shouldn't need to be said, but your value as a fellow human being is not whether you are financially productive or whether you avoid claiming benefits. Image created by @ritb.bsky.social
I am a valuable member of society, in sickness and in health, regardless of whether I am able to work or volunteer. My value as a human being is not dependent on my financial contribution to the economy.

Happy #WorldPharmacistsDay to #pharmsky

I'm a pharmacist who like poems and who feels anxious about the fractured nature of things. So I thought I would share something from @poetrypharmacy.bsky.social

Here's to all the small acts of kindness we see across the world of pharmacy every day 💚

Ah, the absolute joy of the rhymes in those books! 😁
Enjoy the restaurant.
A picture of a small brown sausage dog with half a bone in its mouth, walking away from the viewer. The text above reads "Schnitzel Von Krumm with a very low tum" and it comes from the children's book Hairy Mcclary by Lynley Dodd

I'm really sorry to hear this Amy. I think maintaining a connection without creating too much pressure for the other person to respond is a good approach. Gently but consistently letting them know they are valued and cared about. Happy to talk about it if you need, drop me a message xx

Read this, it’ll take you time, but it is essential.

Then think about any other profession or trade where some of these employees wouldn’t be dismissed by their employer for so many reasons.

That the NHS tolerates toxic little empires is not news, that it refuses to fix it though is unacceptable.

Anyone and everyone should read this article

Patients & healthcare providers

The machinery of the NHS is a magnificent & monstrous thing. We all need to be more aware of it

Flatten the hierarchies, lose the egos, be open about our errors

I sometimes see him at the Weston village Flower show and should really pluck up the confidence to say hello and explain how he's partly responsible for some of my career choices!

I can't be there this year, so I'm looking forward to following as much as possible here 🙂

So it was! It must have been the reply by @klh2.bsky.social that meant it popped up on my timeline again 🙂

Have a lovely day, I hope the sun shines for you. I'm busy updating my lectures for the third year Bath MPharm students ready for October. I can still trace a link back to the lectures I received from Prof Redfern when I was an undergrad. Did you have any lectures who you remember in particular?
The cats by artist Louis Wain, said to demonstrate a progressive disturbance of the mind caused by schizophrenia. The images move from a quite realistic cat to something more stylised and end with multicoloured images that look more like a Chinese dragon.

This series of images captured my imagination as an undergraduate and contributed to my desire to work in mental health.

The over simplistic interpretation is now challenged (see this interesting article linked below) but these images did introduce me to the idea that psychosis could be all consuming and frightening, and the level of sensitivity that might be needed when working with those in the midst of a psychotic episode.

Thank you for another brilliant talk. I am a repeat attendee (hearing you at the Roman Baths last time was pretty amazing) but today was the first time bringing the teen 🙂

Okay, this is going to stay with me for a while @barristersecret.bsky.social 😮

I've been listening to #TheCutThroatTrial and had to get to the end last night to find out where the twists and turns would lead. Add it to your reading pile or enjoy the excellent cast who deliver the audio book.

What I've learned about the topic of psych meds and psych harms is:
• approach the conversation with your assumptions tucked away.
• believe people as the authority of their lives.

Saw Inter Alia at the cinema via NT Live last night, I don't think the trailer does justice to the emotions this play provokes. A great companion piece to Prima Facie and brilliant theatre in its own right. Do see it if you can. It truly left me soul searching.

Classic example of poor medicines management at transition of care. It should *not* be up to patients to sort this stuff out. Also a good example of language not being clear. We perhaps know by 'hospital' we mean secondary care, but it's not helpful jargon here. Sorry @iamcarrie.bsky.social 😞

Having a bit of a faff as GP surgery won't prescribe my quetiapine because there is no shared care agreement. Whatever one of those is? Called CMHT and they don't know, so I've been put on the callback list for the duty worker. Ugh

It's an evening for sharing (possibly) prophetic clips from unsettling TV drama series 😬
