I have heard a stupid number of hours of Sen. Kennedy (R) talking and questioning people testifying. I swear his voice quivered a bit as he ask the few tough questions of Pam Bondi today. I suspect Sen. Kennedy thinks the rule of law is seriously compromised at best.

I am worried about the “humanity” that creates this, and those who use it in this way, and also about the society that’s just one huge effing nothing in response to such abuses. Bystander behavior at its worst. futurism.com/artificial-i...

Ah yes. In no way is this repeated usage of the image of arguably one one of the most famous disabled people in history symptomatic of a eugencist society running on meta-eugenic structures. Nor is is it indicative of the way gen AI enhances the fash aesthetics. In. No. Way. AT ALL. (!) /sarcasm

Genuine question - what are OpenAI’s Sora and other video generation tools good for?

I am honestly trying to understand what is so important that it’s worth the cost. If you have examples, I would be interested to hear them.

CNN: “An older couple making $85K/year will see their yearly insurance premiums jump from $7K to $25,000 — 30% of their income.” 😳#TrumpShutdown #TrumpHealthCareTax

This is what Dems are drawing attention to and want fixed. Now, not later.

This really sounds like an extended metaphor for something

Yeah, most of those detained aren’t white, but some are. And do you really want to be giving tourism $$ to a country that has closed itself off to all actual refugees, but has established a pipeline for apartheid-loving white South Africans to get super-preferential treatment?

Breaks my effing heart to say it, but I think no one should voluntarily travel to the U.S. right now, unless it’s to visit a relative on deathbed, and you just have to accept it’s possible that you might get detained for weeks if you come. No calls to lawyers or loved ones permitted, no meds.

This Trump administration policy of generating an artificial civil war on the basis of big lies is of course meant to be frightening but it is also anti-American, unlawful, stupid and pursued by wildly unpopular people.
brandonfriedman.bsky.social
Everyone is trying to have a normal Saturday night and the president's top advisor is on X announcing that civil war is necessary
@StephenM on X: Legal insurrection. The President is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, not an Oregon judge. Portland and Oregon law enforcement, at the direction of local leaders, have refused to aid ICE officers facing relentless terrorist assault and threats to life. (There are more local law enforcement officers in Oregon than there are guns and badges in the FBI nationwide). This is an organized terrorist attack on the federal government and its officers, and the deployment of troops is an absolute necessity to defend our personnel, our laws, our government, public order and the Republic itself.

UPDATE: On the topic of “who you know” — Good ol’ boys at Massport think it’s perfectly acceptable for a PUBLICLY owned building on PUBLIC land to host political signage.

I don’t give a damn who owns the ground lease. The shameless privilege is off the hook.

I saw a post the other day that said something to the effect of ICE is a job guarantee program for racists and domestic abusers and they weren't wrong
normative.bsky.social
One thing that comes through awfully clearly in these ICE videos is how many of these goons gravitated toward the job because being able to assault people with impunity is a big thrill for them.
