As today is World Octopus Day I’ll again mention that a Spanish equivalent to “like a fish out of water” is como un pulpo en un garaje. It means “like an octopus in a garage.”

You pulled the

I hope
you are worthy
of the #power

ensuring it's

Since, I can be

Silent Screams is out now.
It's the first anthology I've edited and I love every single story inside it.
If you prefer your #Halloween scares quiet and filled with creeping dread, then this is the book for you.
eBook and paperback:
mybook.to/SilentScream...
#Horror #ShortStories #WritingCommunity
The cover wrap for Silent Screams, An Anthology of Quiet Horrors - featuring a striking, surreal illustration by Eric Brenner, depicting a screaming face with far too many eyes. The book blurb states:
The most terrifying horror stories don't churn your stomach. They creep like shadows, chilling with a touch. They build dread through atmosphere and emotion, rather than splatter and gore.

Welcome to Silent Screams, an anthology of quiet horror stories.

Within these pages, you will face strange and twisted scenes, dark and demonic characters, nightmares great and small, written by a host of talented authors from around the world.

These are shattering tales of grief and loss, visitations from strange folk, troubled dreams, and cursed artefacts.

These are whispers to make your skin crawl and your toes curl. Words to catch your breath and smother screams.

He presses play, and the Moonlight Sonata begins.

He pours wine. Checks his suit. Lights candles, marks the circle, casts the spell.

Her ghost appears.

A translucent hand to his, he places a ring.

It clatters on the floor. She is gone.

The music stops.

It's a true #oasis in every sense of the word

There's just one rule: you can't take the water with you

If you do, the desert will become jealous, and the sand will swallow you whole

For some reason, people never believe it, so the desert is always well fed

So yesterday I went to the theatre and tried out audio description for the first time, with a jazzy musical about Orpheus and Eurydice. And it was incredible, loved every minute. Meant I coulld enjoy a show without struggling, particularly when it was set in the dark Underworld.

In case you need to hear it today:

Being exhausted is completely valid.

The world is exhausting and actively trying to wear you down. There is nothing wrong with you if you are feeling it.

The wrong in this aspect is folks of the world trying to make you think this is normal.

Ballerina is a memorial in motion as I hold out my cupped palm.

“Hello, cosmic dancer.”

She whirls past, drawing my handful of stardust into orbit around her. Ballerina pirouettes, and stellar motes reignite as a galactic ring.

“Not to dust. We return to stars.”

Spectacular octopus from the floor of the women’s changing room at the Central Baths in ancient Herculaneum.

This magnificent #Roman monochrome mosaic makes quite an impact!

My photo shows a black and white floor mosaic with a depiction of a very striking octopus in the women’s changing room at the Central Baths in ancient Herculaneum. The octopus with eight writhing arms is composed of small black tesserae (tiles) laid in a white tesserae background

Today I offer a reminder of the word ‘forswunk’ (13th century): exhausted from too much work. To be ‘foreswunk’ (my own version) is to be exhausted before you even begin.

Well here we go. Its all official. Sight getting worse. But had a lovely call with my local sight loss charity this week about how they can support me . And my blue badge came in time for the new term at wind band, which was great. Still living life as best I can.
A yellow card reads the holder of this card is severely sight impaired.

Slowly learning touch typing to support my writing going forward as sight gets worse and fun so far. Although some of the phrases would make great prompts like get the file for like a spy story.

Another week passed, and i took another step towards winter. A slow descent, one I never enjoy. The nights shorten and my sight worsens and my struggles grow fangs. I try to remind myself spring will come again, but every step is a mountain .
