When I started this Christmas card project in 2022 never did I think it would raise £50,000 for @womensaidni.bsky.social in just a couple of years but with your support that’s what we’ve done to this point. Looking forward to seeing what we add to that this year.

She often wondered what the library would be like at night when everyone had gone home. She fancied the characters from the stories contained within the covers of the books freed themselves from the pages. She dreamt she was flying by with her magic Poppins umbrella and.. 16/

Dropped a collection into Brown Thomas earlier. Looks beaut.

Got this brooch last week from a seller in London, marked on the back ‘E Johnson, Dublin’. Googled it. Edwardian era, jeweller based in 94/95 Grafton Street. Replaced by Switzers, then by Brown Thomas. Small world.

One day in Central Library she found a book about the meaning of flowers, since then she appreciates the gardens here even more. In the Victorian language of flowers, Delphinium signifies the dreamer’s heart. 8/

…stuck to the walls by some of Millie’s film loving pals. There was a beautiful still of Garbo from ‘34’s ‘The Painted Veil’ in polka dots & Millie has been quite obsessed since & made herself a polka dot frock. 7/

…of the wild critters that would visit her garden… the hares, the mice, the foxes, the squirrels, the many winged critters. She would hide in the long grass & stare at them in indignation.

One of the walls in work served as a sort of gallery of favourite film stars, tears from magazines.. 6/

…white cat was in residence. Some said there were nine cats in total in the gardens, although she could never find them. 

During the summer, when the gardens & slopes of Cavehill came alive with flora & fauna, Garbo’s perfectly snooty little nose was quite put out of joint by the audacity… 5/

…the castle was ‘gifted’ to the city & people of Belfast. On her days off Millie would sometimes wander up the Antrim Road, through the park to the castle & sit in the beautiful gardens, taking in the views of the bustling city below. Sometimes she’d take a picnic, stopping off at Rangecrofts… 3/
