Are we talking a 2015 Pokémon Art Academy Competition Card?

Is the intent of shitting on the table to distract while executing an unexpected, killer move?

Really... I'm gonna need more.

Really

then why time limit?

‘They caved for 90 days in order to try and get further concessions and, if they don’t, are right back ready to shutdown the government, again,’ is not much of a cave when i say it out loud.

Is your assertion that ‘a politician who will accept money from AIPAC is willing to act in service of AIPAC over their constituents’?
November 10, 2025 at 5:49 PM
I doubt her condescension is intended to be for your benefit or rests on whether you give give a shit. It’s simply how someone speaks to another who is hopelessly confused by the reality of politics and spouting shit.

my understanding is that Johnson has to bring the House back to vote on the legislation b/c the Senate bill differs from the House CR.

I don’t know what i think of the deal, but I’m pretty confident that in 2-3 days people will be mire focused on this instead:

example of something that i just discovered which could change the calculus. (in this case, for the better). unfortunately, only time will tell.

This is actually a huge get

(and which also might sink the deal in House anyway)
The RIFs language is actually great. Not only does it rehire the people RIFed during the shutdown, it makes it an unequivocal Antideficiency Act violation to do ANY MORE RIFs through the duration of the CR (Jan 30)

Completely stops Trump/Vought Phase 2 for now

Would love to see this standardized

In January, a lot of people will be fully and completely enraged & financially broken by the end of ACA subsidies.
November 9, 2025 at 10:40 PM
For 3 days. Then the reality of ACA cuts will be front and center and people will be mad at Republicans.
November 9, 2025 at 10:32 PM
Are you saying this could *conceivably* fail in the House and end up forcing the release of the Epstein files?
November 9, 2025 at 10:26 PM
Until recent elections, that had some appeal. Now I think Republicans are toast & Dems will crush them electorally so Re-opening doesn’t feel like abandoning democracy. People will suffer horribly from ACA costs, but I don’t think anything can stop Republicans from that self-immolation

I’m not sure about the specifics and those will matter to me. BUT I’m also pretty confident after reading dozens of posts on the putative deal that 99% of the anger is based on assumptions & presumptions with zero grounding in reality. it could suck! or not! but that’s irrelevant to the reaction.

Welching on a deal is my jam.

Because laws matter whether their subject is something you deem important or not?

The first thing the league should do is bar them & everyone associated with the betting from ever having anything to do with baseball again. Bar them and their families from setting foot in a stadium again.

I know you’re being sarcastic, but even *shittiest* capitalism is predicated on ‘laws matter.’ In a world where laws don’t matter, private ownership of property (the sine qua non of capitalism) loses meaning.

I suggest this is the only viable argument for gambling, generally.

It provides a thrill… People need to learn, be reminded & taught that indulging that thrill will always yield a net negative to society.
