Come on now, you can't expect people to learn the full story before getting mad about it. This is the internet, they've got assumptions to make, priors to confirm, and virtue to display.
I apologize 😉
Putting my cards on the table… i have no idea if this is a good end to the shutdown for Democrats.
We were never going to get the ACA subsidies. I’m not sure this ever would have ended with ‘victory’. But having Trump take his own victory lap (delusional or not), feels like shit.

I’m not sure about the specifics and those will matter to me. BUT I’m also pretty confident after reading dozens of posts on the putative deal that 99% of the anger is based on assumptions & presumptions with zero grounding in reality. it could suck! or not! but that’s irrelevant to the reaction.

Everyone wants an end to the shutdown. The issue is ‘on what terms?’ W/o knowing the EXACT terms, it’s silly to hyperventilate EVEN IF Democrats are considering voting for cloture.
Semafor reports the same story - "Deal to reopen government starts to come together" - but while they quote 3 GOP Senators, they have no Dems on the record. Mullin and Rounds say things like "It’s just a matter of one or two things to be worked out". No specifics. 3/

Deal to reopen government starts to come together in Senate
It’s still unclear what promises Republicans will make Democrats on health care or how fast Congress can pass the agreement.

wow, have to wonder how something like this was ever allowed to happen AND how it could will affect the next MLB season. Luckily I got some great tips on just how it might, so if you log in to Draft Kings right now with promo code NUTERADAMUS, you can get $10 off on your next bet of $50 or more -
BREAKING: Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz have been indicted by prosecutors in Brooklyn on a host of charges related to a scheme to rig bets on pitches thrown in MLB games. Ortiz was arrested in Boston earlier today. Clase is not currently in custody.

SCHUMER is on the floor now making this offer to end the shutdown:
Clean CR
Bipartisan "minibus" of approps bills
1-year ACA funding extension
Bipartisan cmte to negotiate on health care
"This is a reasonable offer that reopens the government, deals with health care affordability."

Hard to draw general conclusions from a single note. Suffice to say at least ONE juror was focused on a very specific point & wanted it satisfied w/o going straight to nullification l.

How *we* think *other people* think massively impacts our world view. It can make us angry, doubt ourselves & grow afraid.
Mass media, editorial choices & algorithms have radically changed how we understand others. The consequence is polarization, fear & anger driven foremost by that distortion.

my mom was a highly educated person from a wealthy family. She was also the breadwinner of ours. But nobody ever saw that because she never, ever, ever raised it. But I knew it. And watching her get treated with total disrespect for being a woman was absolutely formative to my politics today.

I agree with George.
I’d also point out that flooding the economy with $ to avoid the consequences of a bubble absolutely DOESN’T require bailing out investors.
If a business burns by owner negligence, you don’t need to pay the owner to rebuild. That’s a choice. And not necessarily a good one.

I need your evidence for how an AI blow up destroys the banking system before you go down this path. It’s weak at absolute best.

It’s asinine to view a refusal to bail out investors in AI & crypto as ‘austerity.’ But if I were dumb enough to believe that AND I knew Republicans would get the blame, yeah… I fine with that kind of ‘austerity.’
“It’s not that I’m for austerity, it’s just that I’m against bailing out AI, crypto, private assets/university endowments, and I’m fine with canceled Thanksgiving flights and missed paychecks as long as Republicans take the blame for it.”
