"Listen guys, I know we were all completely justified to hate Joe Biden as much as we did, and in fact it's possible we did not hate him enough, aways gotta leave that possibility open! But maybe we um... don't uh... don't hate *Trump* as much as we should...? Biden bad though, don't get me wrong!!"

"hooray, tumblr philosophy isn't dead" wrong. the internet is a series of tubes, which are topologically equivalent to barrels, and if you march an infinite parade of monkeys through a barrel some of them will turn into Diogenes. this is Barrelposting, and it can never die.

I mean, I get that it's homeschooling, but are you telling me that people doing it actually call it "unschooling"?

Thing is, a lot of communities do have systems to address these things and what that looks like is “The pastor or the church elders tell the wife she needs to be more obedient and pray harder.” I have yet to see a hardcore abolitionist contend with the fact that some communities are pro-abuse.
Look, if your community justice and reconciliation system doesn't have a way to address someone like Ted Bundy and domestic abuse, I'm sorry, but it's not a serious system.
I‘m tired of being nice about this; “abolitionism” has had years to develop a non-idiot policy program and the best they’ve come up with is ”murder without even the pretense of juridical process.” And I am not nut-picking; this is all over abolitionist writing.

there's a central point in here that's worth underlining twice, highlighting, and tattooing on the inside of your eyelids: the optimal [situation/choice/outcome] is not necessarily the one that makes you personally happy, because your happiness is very rarely the most important factor involved
This is going to be very nuanced and very divisive. I hope you will do me the courtesy of reading the whole thing and digesting it before commenting.

Okay?

Good, here goes:

I think many people in our party misunderstand what a congressional leader is.

This is another thing that Posting Activism erases: every course of action, including inaction, has an opportunity cost equal to the highest-value course of action you didn't take.
You and I (and Michael Mann) have the luxury of vibes; Gates operates at such scale he must be an actuary.

It’s pure necropolitics, weighing up how many millions of deaths are the likely outcome of each side of your investment ledger.

The responsibility must feel annihilating.

this is the part where we are obligated, as principled anti-fascists, to make at least a favorable reference to the devil in the House of Commons

(this does not and should not preclude us from enacting Operation Unthinkable at a later date)
Endorse. At the point where she’s put her body on the line and is being personally targeted by the regime, she’s walked the walk more than sufficiently to deserve respect and to be taken seriously.
Kat Abugazeh’s campaign has crossed a threshold where the risk she’s taking is significant enough and the actions admirable enough I sorta am past caring if it’s a publicity stunt/brand building exercise or not, it’s still brave and worthy of respect.
