Canadian/British Columbian, I take photos, knit and crochet. I like beer and sometimes I take photos of beer but have yet learned how to knit or crochet one. Currently watching films in alphabetical order by title. Also childless cat lady.
OK this just made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :)

People who have fruit trees (apples, pears, plums, cherries etc) in their front yard and just let the fruit rot on the tree. If you don’t want it, just put a sign up that says FREE FRUIT, HELP YOURSELF. I hate seeing food wasted!
Let’s air those grievances. I want to hear your pettiest gripes on this the holiest of days.

I haven’t seen the new film ‘Rental Family’ yet. But for those who have and are interested in something similar, check out the 2020 film ‘Family Romance, LLC’ written and directed by Werner Herzog. Beautiful film. I believe it can be seen for free on Mubi at the moment in Canada. #FilmSky

@lemanriley.bsky.social you’ll enjoy the linked article.
This is a great article about the rise of "microcinemas," particularly those doing retrospecitve/repertory screenings.

The article explains the economics of running a microcinema and also explains the social forces driving the trend. It argues that Letterboxd creates FOMO for cinephiles!

At that point in the year where I just want to curl up on the sofa under a blanket and eat never ending bowls of soup and knit and watch movies with my cats. Let me know when it is safe to engage with society in the daylight again.

RIP to the magnificent, beautiful and deeply bananas Udo Kier. Everyone I know who has met him, no matter how glancingly, has their Udo Kier Story. May we all live half such enormous, outrageous lives.

Fantastic thread #BeKind
A friend who teaches theology shared with me a post about CS Lewis's Mere Christianity, which discusses foundational Christian logic across denominations. It reminded me of Dale's tweet below, and I wanted to share some thoughts here regarding modesty and respectability, which are often hot topics.

One of my favourite pieces and was my first introduction to the art of Cornelia Parker. This piece just mesmerized me, still does.
