I don't label myself or my outlook on life here, especially as my views and priorities may change over time. However, a longstanding tenet of mine is "Do as you would be done by", which works for me.
Take me as you find me.
I was proud of the Invasion Day rally crowd in Perth today, who refused to be cowed by the threat of danger, remained calm & peaceful &, after initial confusion about what was required, obeyed Police orders & continued the rally, albeit not quite as planned.
The Police were great too, btw

Here's my suggestion for a new flag.

This is an appalling "See what you made me do" statement. It looks like a threat to others.

Exactly. It's important now to argue strongly for equivalence. Either anti-hate and anti-discrimination measures should apply for all or they should apply for none. Privileging one group is racist by definition.
I find this table a useful illustration of that. Needs more columns for other targets.

It's inescapable how differential standards of concern apply to different ethnicities in Australia. Ongoing injury to Indigenous people, exacerbated by the result of the Voice referendum, is ignored, ditto surging Islamophobia, but 'antisemitism' is full focus. Let's go for equivalence at least.

If we are to be stuck with the flawed IHRA definition of antisemitism we must exert pressure to ensure that its equivalence applies to ALL targets of racism, not just one.
This is an example that I've been sharing today- a similar example would work for racism against Indigenous Australians.

If the IHRA definition is to be adopted for antisemitism we have to lobby hard for equivalence for Islamophobia and other racism, eg against Indigenous people. If it's good for one group it should be good for all. What would be the grounds to refuse that?
I found this example very useful.

Sure - but "Whataboutism" works 2 ways.
"But Hamas!" is getting very stale as an excuse for Israel's conduct in Gaza and the West Bank & that of its cheer squad of unregistered lobbyists in Australia.
Imagine Islamophobia and antisemitism being defined in the same way and treated the same.

This is an illustration of the double standard in discussions about antisemitism and Islamophobia.
Imagine if Islamophobia were defined in the same way as the IHRA definition of antisemitism. How many Australian politicians, media spokespeople & unregistered lobbyists would fail the test?

There have been a few posts about this.

i love my chooks, I really do, not just because they convert kitchen scraps into eggs, but because they are lovely little beings (Rhode Island RedX).
However, witness to what I am reduced. Herbs (or anything edible, even rhubarb) can only be grown in hanging baskets or wired up.
I will prevail.

Canada's response was eerily similar - ditto much of the EU. They've obviously discussed this overnight.

This is the Central Memorial in Berlin (Neue Wache) to all Victims of War and Tyranny.
A woman sits alone in a cold grey room cradling the dead body of her son.
This beautiful, heartbreaking monument transcends race, creed and politics.

Would that we could all do that.

Peace and Love to all.

Where is the so-called "massive immigration"? It's fiction. It's more convenient to blame problems on immigration than to look at the actual causes.

There seems to be increasingly frenzied coercive activity to silence legitimate comment and questioning.
Maybe because that's all that's left to people who have lost all credibility in their denial & justification of the depraved behaviour of a cruel & vindictive rogue state.

Truth will win

Perth people marched in support of Palestinian people on a cold, rainy and thundery Friday night.

We will not be bullied out of standing up for what is right.

I felt sick watching what was done to and with the Australian flag on Sunday by people who have made it a symbol of jingoism and racism, so I designed a new one.
