Dan Harris posted in Threads beautiful Buddhist wisdom about when we should run our mouths and when we shouldn’t. (Will what I say bring people closer together or drive them apart?)

I’m shocked by the responses. They’re basically “No, I will always hate these people with different views from me!”

Caring about everything is a disaster.

Caring about nothing is also a disaster.

Nurture the small pocket of things that truly matter to you.

Last night I saw not one but TWO people in "Dungeon Master" sweatshirts pick up groups of people from the airport.

Honestly, makes a lot of sense. GMs are definitely the reliable friend type you call to help you out XD

Bluesky is doing wonders for my social media addiction.

Every time I click a “new follower” notification, it turns out to be a spammy account. 😡 Thus extinguishing my app-use impulse just a bit each time.

Woohoo?

Apple TV+ is free this weekend. My utterly biased suggestion: Little America. Every ep is a short film based on true stories of immigrants to America. Some are funny, some are moving, some are thrilling. We wanted to make a show about immigrants that was, before all else, entertaining.

This is a fascinating article, and a reminder that TB is caused by impoverishment as much as it's caused by bacteria.

"After two weeks at Nathan Hale, this is the question I’m left with: Every single teacher and administrator here has ideas for improving the school. So why do education reform efforts always ask them to implement somebody else’s?"
Yep. This is one of the most radicalizing pieces I ever wrote, about my own high school.

Silver-bullet, top-down Bold New Ideas are never going to work. Effective approaches are slow, make significant investments and ask teachers what they need.

There are so many wonderful, cozy sweaters in this cafe right now. I’m trying not to stare but I so want to steal some of these patterns to make myself!

Also just noticed that the customers are entirely women, all thirteen of us.

Name whiplash: lady came in today with her elderly 90-something mother Jennifer…

…and bought a stuffed toy for her granddaughter (Jennifer’s great-granddaughter) Helen.

I thought I got the names mixed up at first.

I guess Jennifer’s an older name now and Helen is a young one.

Considering running the published #lego #dnd adventure—2 things I love, joined together at last? Yes please!

I don’t have $360 to drop on another Lego set though, but wouldn’t this be a great excuse?

(And yeah, I know I can run the adventure without it)

Finally found something that explains me! Wow!

I’ve always had bizarrely low empathy for an otherwise functional person, but when something unfair happens in a book or movie, I have to stop & walk away. I never understood why I got so upset.

Couple sitting at table next to me at pub have three books in front of them. I have read two out of three of them (Faulkner’s Light in August, Rooney’s Normal People).

Have immense urge to talk to them about it. Should I be creepy and weird? Or should I mind my own business?
