When I first started playing FFXIV at the end of ARR, I was on PS4 and on wifi. I didn't realize until I texted one day that I was somehow playing on a 64k connection lol. It was technically barely possible back then, now it's pretty iffy, but you definitely shouldn't HAVE to. I hope it gets sorted!
