Me when I hear that Miami is going to now get the MLS GK of the year, Dayne St. Clair, after they just won MLS Cup and have more stars than anyone by far

Great article by @theguardian.com on the historical trends of ticket prices for the World Cup. Spoiler alert: the prices for 2026 are out of control.
Given that FIFA probably gets the money from ticket sales, not the cities hosting, this could hurt the local economies if they don’t get enough fans.

The players association is rejecting the proposed HIP designation. Regardless of how this turns out, both sides have screwed this up. Trinity’s contract status didn’t come out of the blue but both sides are acting like they had no idea this could have happened. #figureitout #paythem

There was backlash to the crazy ticket prices? Whaaaaaaa!!!
Okay, good that they recognized they made a mistake but this is barely anything. It will be interesting to see if they keep going down as they get closer to tourney time.

Looks like Thor is heading to the cold! Good move for Zimmerman. Best days are behind him but he still brings a lot to a team.
🔴 BREAKING: Toronto FC is finalizing a deal to sign free agent center back Walker Zimmerman, per sources.

Medical and formalities left.

Zimmerman, 32, is a two-time MLS Defender of the Year and five-time MLS Best XI.

@meglinehan.com has a great article about the NWSL’s discussions about creating a mechanism to keep Trinity Rodman and other star players. Congress is also getting involved 🤦‍♂️.
Important to note this proposal is NOT like MLS and the designated player. Keep your eyes on this one!

Fans coming to the US may need to show 5 years of social media to get a ESTA (visa for less than 90 days)

Agent: “What does '6-7' refer to? A target? A date?”
Visitor: “It means nothing! It’s a meme!”
Agent: “Posting coded messages with 'no meaning'? That’s exactly what a spy would say. Denied.” 🤦

Did not have this one on my bingo card. One of the best to put on the gloves, and I hope she can go out with Chicago supporting her with a stronger team. #MTRushmoreofGK

Alright FIFA, fix this. The Pride match in Seattle during the World Cup is set to be Iran v. Egypt...two countries not exactly known for their support of the LGBTQIA+ community. Move the game to Vancouver and put Belgium v. New Zealand in its place. This is a SIMPLE fix.

FIFA announced that every game for the World Cup will have a three minute water break at the 22 minute mark of each half.
I will propose that the fans should get a water break as well. Just turn the sprinklers towards the fans and put them on full blast.

Most people have probably seen that the NWSL rejected Rodman’s contract with the Spirit saying it violates the CBA. NWSLPA has filed a grievance. If Trin wins this, I think commissioner Berman will be out of a job. She says she’s doing all she can to keep her in NWSL but this action says otherwise.

Bay FC named Emma Coates as the new coach. Beyond her impressive resume with England’s U-23 team, she is now the fourth woman to be an active coach with the NWSL (Laura Harvey - Seattle, Bev Yanez - Louisville, Filipa Patão - Boston). This is a step in the right direction, but more are needed.

I hope to explore this more but this podcast from ECNL was fascinating to hear them discuss the arguments for smaller sides in youth soccer. There are lots of logistical reasons that would make this really challenging but it’s worth considering and thinking of how youth practice. Give it a listen!

This is quite an impressive list of players to get a debut with the USWNT this year. Hard to believe that only a few will make the World Cup team in 2027. Goes to show the unreal depth this team has.
