Sunday Bonhoeffer:
"Possesions are not God's blessings and goodness, but the opportunities of service which he entrusts to us."

From the collection "No Rusty Swords: Letters, Lectures and Notes 1928-1936." (1965)
A black and white photo of Dietrich Bonhoeffer's desk in his attic room at his parent's house in Berlin. It is a simple wooden table with a lamp and book open on it. It is sitting by a radiator and under a window. There is also an armed wooden chair sitting in front of the desk.

A great Sunday morning read!
(The thread breaks off at times, so poke around the All The Right Movies feed to read the entire post! Again, well worth it!)

DR. NO was released 63 years ago today. The first Hollywood entry in the iconic James Bond series, and still among the most popular 007 films, the story of how it was made will leave you shaken and stirred….

It's still one of my favorite TV shows. "The Shelter" still haunts me to this day.

Premieres tonight in 1959: “The Twilight Zone”

“It’s not a monster rally or a spook show,” Rod Serling said at the time. “The Twilight Zone is what it implies: that shadowy area of the ‘almost-but-not-quite’ — the unbelievable, told in terms that can be believed.”

“Where is Everybody?” (S1:E1) 🙏🏼

I recorded a number of episodes on VHS when I was a kid. Jeremy Brett's Holmes will forever be "my" Holmes.

Great video, which lengthened my TBR list considerably! I am very envious of your library, Stephen. This video is well worth a lunchtime viewing.

Sunday Bonhoeffer:
"It's been a year since I heard a chorale sung. But it's strange how music, when one listens with the inner ear alone and gives oneself up to it utterly, can be almost more beautiful than when heard physically."

Letter to Bethge from Tegel
25 March 1944
A fuzzy black and white photo of Dietrich Bonhoeffer while he was incarcerated in Tegel prison. He is a white balding male wearing glasses and dressed in a gray suit coat, knitted waistcoat, white dress shirt with a black tie, and black trousers.

I read Neil Boyd's books two years ago, and they were a treat. I discovered some of these episodes online last year, and they lived up to the books. Arthur Lowe is wonderful and one of my favorite actors of all time.

'Baptism of Fire', the first episode of Bless Me Father, starring Arthur Lowe and Daniel Abineri, was broadcast on this day in 1978.
