Rode with Councilor Siddiqui on the Peabody Bike Bus this morning. She's been a great ally of safer streets and is a @cambbikesafety.bsky.social endorsed Bike Champion for the November Council election

Anyone want to #osm map bike parking in #boston?

Each of these dots is bike parking in OSM and I just don't believe that Boston is really THAT sparse south of the Pike

I'd be happy to teach you how with apps like @everydoor and @streetcomplete

What are the best* Apple apps for mapping bike parking in #osm (I don't use Apple, but want to know what to suggest)

*best: easiest to get someone that have never edited OSM, nor cares about mapping generally, to quickly add items and details without being overwhelming

@SnoopJ @MapComplete is a web app, but also can be helpful in adding and seeing details for different themes. There are a few that highlight bike stuff. I think they have been developing it to work better on mobile. I don't ever use it on mobile and only occasionally on web, so I haven't fully […]

@SnoopJ if you on android, there are 2 good options that I use to add details to OSM when I am out. Both are easy to add bike parking.

@streetcomplete is better for adding details that affect biking in general (bike lanes, car parking, number of lanes, etc.) and routing specifically

@everydoor […]

@SnoopJ no worries, I am learning the mapping stuff myself to do bike advocacy, so its super easy for me to not know something
scooooooott.urbanists.social.ap.brid.gy
@SnoopJ Do you know of something that is not showing up in this search? https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/27mo

If I am just missing a tag to be including that would be cool.

For reference, there is actually pretty good BlueBike station coverage in the whole city. I'm sure some of these neighborhoods have poor bike parking, but this just feels like a lack of data accuracy, which will make the projects I am working towards less valuable.

@joanliu.bsky.social I add via streetcomplete all the time. There is a "Things" overlay where you can then hit the red + button to add objects. Bike parking is one of the options.

(I have started to use SSEE [expert edition] so the UI might be slightly different, but I recall adding bike […]

2) Bike Stress Map - mapping Camberville and Boston streets by biking comfort level

The Camberville Landway map is inspired by the design of subway maps, showing common major routes to travel across town via bike (or other personal mobility device). This is the vision of a network that, when built, will make Camberville as good to bike in as Paris and Amsterdam.

The other project is much more granular. Every street in Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, and Brookline is rated based on how stressful it is to ride due to automotive traffic

We need City Councillors who support safer streets. Your contribution will help us build the voter outreach tools, volunteer networks, and election guides, to ensure Cambridge keeps moving toward safer, healthier streets for all.
