Approaching 3/4 of a century on this earth. Politically adrift as the parties chase each other to the bottom. The trouble is that there are people who are plainly good for the most part in every party except Reform yet they get buried under dross.
Stop the stitch-up! The Government wants to push through water legislation, locking in a failed privatised system for decades without giving the public a say.

I’ve signed the petition to stop this water stitch-up and demand a public consultation. Add your name: actionnetwork.org/petitions/st...

@rosiewrightingmp.bsky.social You have an interesting take on the Brexit referendum. Even if you ignore current opinion polls watch the Carole Cadwalladr TED talk on the referendum. Frightening how manipulated we were. Watch it and weep. And stop echoing REFORM. The party for the hard of thinking.

Clean, affordable water belongs to all of us. I’ve told the new Environment Secretary to act on real evidence for public ownership and put people first. Join me:https://actionnetwork.org/letters/ask-emma-reynolds-to-base-water-policy-on-facts-not-water-industry-fake-maths?source=bluesky&

I didn’t vote for Labour as I’m in a Tory strong hold. But I had high hopes. Spoiled. Starmer following Farage up Trump’s back passage. Reeves taxing everyone except the mega Rich And a deaf ear on Gaza. Is it fear of more, Israeli (not Jewish) claims of antisemitism? Even A Rayner seems adrift. 😢

Privatisation broke our water system.

@labourslewis.bsky.social has a people-first, evidence-based alternative, and I’m backing it.

Seeing that many countries, including my own, have issued a stern warning to Netanyahu, I think they should have a plan B because he will ignore it.
If military personnel were to be declared guilty of a war crime if they shell, bomb or kill by sniping a civilian even if under orders.

Just catching up with the documentary “Live Aid at 40.”I’d forgotten that it kicked off when Bob Geldof saw a BBC report on an Ethiopian famine presented by Michael Buerk. The film even found its way to NBC in the US.
Where is the BBC now, with the famine in Gaza? In a meeting about Masterchef?

A long rambling story Donald Trump told about his uncle this week, none of which was true, has raised fresh alarms that his advanced age and the pressures of the job appear to have him trapped in a downward spiral.

Today I received an email from an MP trying to get people to lobby for the Government to ignore the highly paid lobbyists from the water industry and renationalise them. A no-brainer. Why did they ever sell off an industry where users cannot use anyone other than their local supplier? Madness.

Just wondering, who has lit the flame that will become WW3?. Russia, Hamas, Israel Iran or the Trumpian USA.

Am I the only one totally frustrated by the Starmer government’s ability to do some good stuff then manage to alienate many by communicating poorly and getting the small print wrong.

How much longer are western nations, including the UK and US, going to pretend that criticising what the Israeli Government is doing in Gaza and the West Bank is “anti-Semitic? We all turned our backs on the Nazis which led to the holocaust. Now we are creating the next one by remaining silent.

An Australian neighbour stopped in HK on her return to the UK last week. Learned that Tesla sales are plummeting despite slashing prices. Market going to Chinese company BYD. Tesla allegedly slashing prices to compete but failing. BYD are launching in Europe. Oups.

Just reading in the WP how Musk’s DOGE is closing down USAid. Musk said he’d gone over it with Trump a few times and asked if Trump was sure. Of course he was sure. He’s so far in debt to Musk he’d agree to Musk doing anything. The American people should take note of this. Musk is actually in charge

Is it just me or do others find the obsession with AI disturbing? Quite apart from the false statements it creates on social media and elsewhere, it looks horribly like the back story in the Terminator movies.

I’ve been listening to the many tributes to Johnie Walker. I’m old enough to remember him on pirate radio.

Fun fact I’d never heard was that he was sacked from Radio 1 for describing The Bay City Rollers as “Musical Garbage”. He had that right. ❤️

This is a failure of democracy.

82% of the public want water back into public ownership, but we weren’t part of the decision.

Now we’re stuck bailing water companies out for decades of recklessness.

We need a new water system where everyone has a say.

Just seen today’s headline in the Sunday Depress, part of Retch plc. Boris Johnson renowned liar, warning of Keir Starmer being a Brexit threat. Talk about a one trick pony. Would be worst PM ever if Truss hadn’t followed him.

Thinking today about long ago issues that still hold us back today. In 1969 when I was in the 6th form at school the first year were being taught in metric. A few years later there was uproar at the suggestion the country change. Still stuck with imperial. Why?🤔Everyone over 66 learned metric.
