Speaking (I feel confident) for the vast majority of Europeans the USA is less respected like never before.

I recently went on holiday (from Europe) to Mexico. When I told most people where I was going they asked about if I was worried about going somewhere considered dangerous.
I checked the government travel advisory website and found Mexico was listed as safer than USA for a holiday.

I don't say this very often but proud to be British occasionally
