2) I still like the idea of converting a screenplay that didn’t find a home into an ebook. I call it a scrovella. A 30k word novella that originated as a screenplay. More to come on that maybe.

My takeaways from all this is 1) if you’re on the fence about a spec idea. Would you be willing to call your favorite prodcos and pitch it? If not, maybe don’t write it? And...

We sent the script very wide, and 21 Laps (Stranger Things, etc) attached. There is some momentum, so we'll see what happens.

Anyway, finished the script, and started emailing some very loose connections. It found it's way to Untitled Entertainment, and I signed with 2 managers. (Never had to try the phone.)

It was an idea that I was confident in enough that I told myself I'd cold call prodcos or managers with it when it was done. I hadn't done that in a long long time. But, you know, desperation and all that.

I was actually surprised at what was the most popular. A dark, twisted Fargo type premise set in the world of the NBA front office. Pretty big hook.

I really didn’t have many connections, despite having one film produced. But I had a few producers and other writers I could email, so I sent out a sheet of loglines to anyone who would vote.
