Hard to describe the grief one feels at the loss of a beloved… pressure washer. We’ve been together a long time. But today she quit spraying. I took her in, but my guy said her pump is shot and, well, she’s just old. No point in prolonging. Move on, he urged. Trying.

Talk about AI craziness!
W/ my latest short story newly published online, I Googled the title to see if and how the published story is showing up in Google.
I got this hit labeled "AI Overview" ... it appears to be AI-generated speculation about my story. It is all wrong.
Wait? What? Why?

Connie & I attended our 1st No Kings rally today in Orlando. Big crowd. Great day. Lively. Peaceful. Inspiring. Fun.
2 criticisms:
“No Kings” is a dumb slogan.
Libs/Dems/Anti-MAGAs/general opposition need to focus. Any & every progressive cause means something in the platform to turn off everyone.

Just finished—and submitted for copyright registration—my latest short story, "Arlene The White Oak Tree." This one is magical realism flash fiction. Arlene escapes a bad marriage and a crappy life by turning into a tree.
Available now to some really cool journal.

In an act of absolute cowardice, and a total refutal of Orlando's needed gesture of love and unity: Because Gov. Ron DeSanctimonious can't stand gay people, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, Florida DOT painted over the rainbow crosswalk leading to the memorial for 49 people massacred at Pulse nightclub.

Here I present evidence that either, A) Hollywood doesn’t make excellent, entertaining films like it used to, or B) I’m well into the grumpy-old-man phase of life now.
There is not one movie on this list that I would pay money to go see a second time.

Since I never pursue AI, my only experiences are when AI pursues me, as w/ streaming service algorithms offering options it says I might like. These are 90% wrong (w/ the exceptions akin to blind squirrels finding nuts.) We're supposed to trust decision-making to such inept entities?

I opined here that a stick shift makes driving more fun. That’s all.
I didn’t expect, yet received, several stern rebuttals saying, in various ways, that driving is so difficult and dangerous that it shouldn’t ever be fun.
Who saw this as a socially divisive issue?
Are people really so miserable?

My new short story, available for digital download from Amazon, is currently #15 in Amazon's Best Sellers in Humorous Dark Comedy!
I know that's just a 1-day snapshot, and a limited category. But that's all dark comedy, regardless of length.
So yeah! Have a sip of drink-of-your-choice. Thanks.

Attention #writingcommunity, #indieauthors: Someone going by the name Barnes & Noble Publishing House is advertising for our business. They are not the real Barnes & Noble, nor connected in any way. Smells bad to me. I’ve alerted the real @barnesandnoble.com and WriterBeware.

Sometimes I pull an old book for a reread. Up now is ON THE ROAD. Back in college, I wrote notes in the margin. One: “Why does this paragraph really bother me?” Was my 21-y-o self asking that question of my 65-y-o self? If so, beats me. The graph doesn’t bother me at all now. Am I wiser or dumber?

40 years ago today we learned about the greatest baseball pitcher who never played, the New York Mets mysterious, mystical phenom Sidd Finch, with his 168 MPH fastball. That's right, 168 MPH.

I had a great time at Page 15’s PopUp Poetry in Parramore today. Page 15 works with high school teachers, writing coaches & students across Central Florida to promote creative writing. Hearing these kids' poems—young people publicly expressing themselves honestly and bravely—inspires great hope.
