Possibly. We won’t know he’s back until he’s back. The team is very secretive in that way. (They also tend to rush people back when they’re not quite ready….)

I’m almost serious when I say I want Lou Lamoriello to step in as President of Hockey Ops. Scrutinize everything: strength & conditioning, ice maintenance, skate sharpening, goalie coaching. Nobody’s job is safe except for Arlette.

“Some time” is a real problem in Keefe’s world. This is a problem — is it strength and conditioning? I don’t know, but it’s happening too often to be just bad luck.

I didn’t say IF he would move the needle, but HOW. Meier is 29 years old, Quinn is 26. Would the team trading him have any desire to get older?

I’m sure it was the cap. Fitz would’ve had to offer prospects and throw in dead salary weight. No way was he trading Hischier or Bratt, and I doubt Vancouver wanted Hamilton, Palat, or Markstrom. Meier would be a toss-up whether he’s included, but not sure how that might move the needle.

Hard to disagree with you on that. In fact, I can’t. Marky can be great. Allen can be great. Blackwood can be great. Wedgewood can be great. But when they’re with the Devils, often they’re not.

I explicitly remember Sal, Dano, and myself all yelling “No!” around the time of the Dillon turnover, all at the same time, and I’m sure they put their heads in their hands, as did I. That’s the line that stands out to me.
