Energy Secretary Wright and Interior Secretary Burgum have both cited "pollution" from offshore wind turbines as one of the reasons they need to be scrutinized or shut down.

Energy Secretary Wright made tens of millions of dollars as the CEO of a fracking company, so he certainly knows that the natural gas he brought to market is the primary cause of the decline of the coal industry.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright on Fox: "We're announcing today expanded programs to help the American coal industry. We're helping it because for years it has been under assault. It was out of fashion with the chardonnay set in San Francisco, Boulder, and NYC ... coal just makes the world go round."

Scott, Ben & I went through the entire report line by line to understand the types of tactics the authors use. The examples in our final project are prime illustrations of how this document misleads, manipulates and obscures. Proud to see this story published and proud to work with this badass team.

Scoop: Trump lost the legal battle over halting the offshore Revolution Wind project after Orsted, its developer, brought reams of evidence to court alleging the government was lying about military security concerns.

Trump's climate denial tirade at the UN is part of an administration-wide effort to pressure other countries to drop their climate policies and clean energy reliance. Aside from some commitments to buy LNG to avoid tariffs, the pressure campaign is largely ineffective. www.eenews.net/articles/tru...
Trump urges the world to abandon climate fight
Through his rhetoric and promotion of U.S. fossil fuels, the president is trying to undermine global climate efforts.

Trump's UN speech was one of his most unfiltered and extended climate denial riffs ever, full of falsehoods, lies and distortions.

‘Con,’ ‘scam,’ ‘hoax’: Trump’s UN speech on climate
The president used a large chunk of his speech to world leaders to condemn climate science and clean energy policies.

Trump also just repeated a stream of disproven climate claims to world leaders who govern countries where climate science has not been so politicized and even conservative leaders push for clean energy. It comes less than 24 hours after his numerous false claims about autism.
scottpwaldman.bsky.social
Trump has unleashed a torrent of climate denial unlike any of his UN speeches in his first term, lecturing European leaders on the "dangers" of wind energy, even as many countries have relied on wind power for decades.

It used to be global cooling." Climate change is "the greatest con job perpetrated on the world." Climate predictions "made by stupid people." "I've been right about everything and I'm telling you that if you don't get away from green energy...it's a scam." Trump to the UN just now.

"The Amish, they have no autism," Trump says to support his debunked claims, describing the insular community that traditionally treats health care needs with home remedies.

"We understood a lot more than people who studied it," Trump says, describing RFK Jr. and their mutual claims about autism research. He notes they have been pushing their claims (debunked by a vast body of research) for 20 years and that the administration's new report stems from their beliefs.

Interior Sec. Doug Burgum is the administration's attack dog on wind energy, killing projects, claiming it's unreliabe. But wind energy doubled in North Dakota during his tenure as governor, now providing 1/3 of the state's electricity. Only 5 other states produce more www.eenews.net/articles/bur...
Burgum celebrated wind power. Then Trump tapped him to kill it.
As governor of North Dakota, Doug Burgum bragged about his state’s wind energy. He shed those views when he became Interior secretary.

This post that states "white people did more to end slavery than anyone" is from a climate denier cited as an expert by PragerU, Fox, etc. His tweet perfectly encapsulates how deniers cherry-pick data to support absurd conclusions. (My great-great grandfather was one of those Union casualties)

The report relies on a rhetorical trick, cherry picking peer-reviewed science and stripping it of context to support a narrative. "As a general rule, what they say is correct, but it’s carefully filtered to give an impression that’s counter to a full reading of the analysis,” @andrewdessler.com said

This is the long-planned adversarial red team-blue team review of climate science the authors have sought. Except this time, it leaves out the blue team representing consensus climate science. It is the first step in a process that will eventually respond to criticism and grow into a larger report.

The researchers Wright tapped have no interest in "honest scientific discourse,” @michaelemann.bsky.social told me. “Instead, they have served as loyal soldiers in the ongoing war on science being waged by polluters, petrostates, and plutocrats, and the politicians...who do their bidding.”
