A 30-year cooking career led to moderate renown. Today, after fallout from destructive choices, Jim is in prison preparing meals for fellow incarcerees, writing with wry humor about the care and feeding of those behind bars.

‘I feel that if the form strays too far from the sort of story we might have enjoyed as a child it atrophies’: such an interesting interview with @polyscribe70.bsky.social by @amantineb.bsky.social . Really looking forward to the rest of the series

Huge thanks to the wonderful @amantineb.bsky.social for the chance to talk stories in her From the Heart series. Thanks too for her quiet, sensitive reading of an extract from my collection Things Grown Distant, published by @confingopublishing.bsky.social www.amantinebrodeur.com/post/taking-...

Wisdom from the National Trust bookshop in Avebury 💙📚

Thanks, Mike! Yes, I’m interested in tracing change in relationships, too, and I really enjoyed that in your story, especially the growing sense of trust you created between them

Honoured to return to @fictivedream.bsky.social today with The Shape of Moments, a twin of an earlier story, Backgrounds. Very grateful to Laura, also to @kerryhp.bskyb.social and @[email protected] for encouragement to explore these characters further.

Oh this @junegemmell.bsky.social story! Do you have tear ducts? Prepare to use them. Tell everyone at work or wherever you are that it’s just allergies. Prepare yourself for a lovely, relatable, well-drawn visit to a house maybe you know too.

Really enjoyed hearing Mick Herron on the Today programme earlier, talking about his writing routine (lots of solitaire and ‘creative naps’, writing a sentence, staring out of the window, writing another). Excited that there’ll be a new series of Slow Horses soon, too
