I haven’t worked with them in some time but this data looks very easily integrated into tornado archive. Might be worth chatting with them. There are a lot of researchers using that site.

A storm with its tornado, parading through canyons in Texas, shows off the whole anatomy of a supercell. Nothing I wouldn't give to have had a road in from the northeast on this one, but nope.

One year ago today I was making what may be the easiest forecast of my life in central South Dakota. This long-lived tornado was just the icing we all knew was coming to top off the cake.

Out of the small handful of storms I have actually chased in 2025, the majority of them have been terrible. And yet several of them, including this one, keep breaking my windshield anyway. You're supposed to be good if you want the right to do that, storm.

In areas hit by Texas floods, officials were sent over $5 million in federal ARPA funds in 2021.

They didn't want to spend it on flood warning systems due to their disdain for Biden - and didn't send it BACK because it might go to a blue state, and "values that we in Kerr county don't agree with."

Yeah, I get that, and you’re right. But an evacuation for every FFW would be an evacuation multiple times a year in many places. It’s a lot to ask, especially when most occasions don’t do this kind of thing.

It is not feasible to evacuate a town ahead of flood weather. People can’t afford that and won’t do it even if they can.

Evacs on the floodplain make total sense and will probably happen in the future in Centex now, but it’s hard to convince people how scary flooding is until it happens to them. And, obviously, you can’t just close a town ahead of time. But for the campgrounds that’s a good place to start.

Some of the affected communities do already. I’ve seen the 20 foot banks on the rivers across Centex. It’s incredible that those haven’t been enough.
