Yes and no, it's a simple component that takes a system outside of regular physics, but at this point required very little bespoke.

Likewise with blogs, they reflected more who actually presented the thing you were looking at. That isn't to say that toxic weirdos didn't get access to high quality print or a competent web design, but it was at least something you could gut check.

It was easy to tell that what you were reading was a fringe opinion purely by the quality of the print. It was then up to you to believe it or not, but where it came from was obvious.

I think that the homogenization of the literal form of social media posts to be differentiated only by a blue check next to a name mostly served to elevate people spewing toxic garbage. Once upon a time the only way you'd get exposed to wackadoo consipiracy nonsense was on a shabby piece of paper.
