This was my first thought on hearing he passed. I think he gets overshadowed by Carroll O'Connor, but he was so pitch prefect as Mike. Such a sad loss.
I spent this week rewatching a lot of All in the Family for work. It's not Rob Reiner's primary legacy, but it was one of the greatest quartets in TV history, and he was essential in the least rewarding role. He has a scene with Jean Stapleton in S8 that moved me to tears. Where I'll be for a while.

With Charli XCX doing the soundtrack to the new Wuthering Heights, what pop stars would you pair with adaptations of 19th century novels? I'd like to see Chappell Roan do Great Expectations.

"as long as it felt like a Shawn Levy movie"

Ah, yes. The famous Levy-touch.
He did tell me a little bit about his ideas for Star Wars, and what Kathleen Kennedy wanted.

Youtube has announced that all low-res videos (i.e. older ones) are to be automatically AI upscaled to HD.
Creators can opt-out on a per video basis (but the channel may be long abandoned).

When researching props or behind the scenes, old videos are useful, but not if upscaling produces artefacts.

Barker called me up one night and without preamble said "It's opinions, not onions. Not onions. This is Clive Barker. I've been trying to track down and stop this error in editions for decades. OPINIONS."
(It wasn't until Jeff and Ann VanderMeer were working on their anthology The Weird that I learned that "onions" is a typo. Either Jeff or Ann mentioned to me that Barker asked them to fix the typo that had haunted the story in countless reprintings, incl in their own earlier antho The New Weird.)

Happy (belated) 73rd birthday to Clive Barker! And happy 40th birthday to two of his best books, The Damnation Game and The Inhuman Condition.

This is exactly backwards. From the beginning, Kirk was the beneficiary of a large and highly organized network of dark money donors who were looking for a spokesman. No way he would have done what he did without patrons like Montgomery and Uihlein. Kirk didn't make money - money made Kirk.

Funniest possible person to say nothing bad happened when he was a kid as a result of everyone having guns
RFK Jr: We had lots of guns when we were kids. Kids brought guns to school and were encouraged to do so. And nobody was walking into schools and shooting people. There are many things that could explain this. One is the dependence on psychiatric drugs.
