Between his single game-tying homerun and then that last throw to home plate, Miguel Rojas should get a statue if the Dodgers manage to win this. #MLB

It's amazing how thin-skinned fascists are. I made a comment on Twitter in response to AOC's jab at Miller's height by making a crack about how sensitive short guys are about their height and people leapt to Miller's defence, which is hilarious because I didn't even mention Miller.

Someone reminded me of that scene from All Dogs Go To Heaven where Burt Reynolds has to say goodbye to Judith Barsi.

Of course my first moderately successful post on Bluesky was Disco Elysium-related.

I helped a couple of little kids get their frisbee back today and one of them, in an almost posh Australian accent, gave me the most earnest "Thank you, sir!" I've ever heard that it made me feel like I walked into a Dickens novel.

To give context to my American friends: imagine Republican representatives from rural American states one day decided to leave the party.

Coincidentally, the phrase "aura farming" should also go live on a big farm where it will have a lot of space to run.

Halfway through my first university trimester as a sessional academic and I've already lost count of how many times I've had to teach students on when and how to use a semi-colon.
God bless 'em for trying, and no, the AI response detection hasn't triggered on any submissions thus far.

When I was a teenager I used to work at Subway. Earlier today I saw an old co-worker being interviewed on the news so I reached out.
While chatting he pointed out that our old boss had quite literally just become the new Member of Parliament for the Division of Melbourne.
Small world.

Of course there's plenty of nuance missing from this summary as I only have so many characters on Bluesky, especially when it comes to US centrist politics, but at the end the question remains the same. What does centre right politics look like going forward if it is not a grift?
I was talking to a friend who also studied Intl Relations about the Australian election results and neither of us could genuinely say for sure what the future looks like for centre right political groups.
And I think this reveals how much of a farce centre right politics are... 1/4

I always find it funny when I see someone post a clip from a movie and say say

I don't like the idea of billionaires in public office but God damn if the billionaire governor from my home state doesn't seem awesome sometimes.

So, last year someone rear-ended my car while I was waiting to merge in a slip-lane.
It has taken me 8 months to get my case reviewed by the Transport Accident Commission.
Apparently, a bulging disc and an agitated sacroiliac joint are "pre-existing conditions".
Yeah, I'm gonna challenge that.

Trump doesn't have a functional understanding of governance because he views the world through a transactional lens of winners and losers wherein one party is deliberately getting screwed.
If I asked him what a Thucydides Trap was, AT BEST he'd say
"Incredible guy Thucydides, just amazing..."

Trump has once again questioned the US-Japan Alliance: "We defend them but they don't have to defend us...We pay hundreds of billions of dollars to defend them...We pay all the money. They don't pay anything."
