The Chancellor seems to be hanging her hat on planning reform (in England, worth adding) to boost the economy. Planning does need reform (and more resources!) but issues of stalled growth are systemic and will require a much stronger public sector to ensure effective delivery #planning #growth

These things are usually very complex but tend to agree with this…
At some point people will look back at the rates available in the 2010s and be utterly bemused that we didn’t take the chance to hugely upgrade our national infrastructure.

Lighting can have a big impact on public space. Unfortunately it’s expensive & difficult for local authorities to maintain so schemes not as ambitious as they could be. Higher land values mean more investment in cities like London & this partly helps deliver shinier design features like this:
