It’s the strangest feeling. Like we are at the top of a roller coaster about to drop. I do not like to ride roller coasters.

Had a good weekend with old friends in town. Threw a surprise birthday party. Ate BBQ and talked long into the night. It’s a serious recharge for me. Very fun.

Leveling the house today. Wow. It’s tolerating this pretty well. Some sheet rock damage but otherwise ok.

Giving up Facebook has not affected my professional life. My field does not depend on it. Many do and I respect that. It has led me to find alternate means of talking to folks I miss. Literally talking. Like in person or on the phone. Two years in and am definitely happier off than on.

I quit metas social media app a couple of years ago. In general it’s resulted in greater peace for me but also a touch of isolation. I have lost sight of some folks I was at least peripherally in touch with and I can no longer peer at the better parts of their lives. Was it worth it? I think so.

Trying to keep calm and watch less news. It’s weird how we all seem to be speculating on how bad things in the US are about to get. We don’t know yet. In fact, the awful thing is we can’t know because we don’t trust the president elect to speak truth. Oddly that seems to be the appeal to his voters.
