Seriously - don’t go

A crying shame then that we don’t invest more in buses & trains - much safer than cars; not to mention kinder to the environment & accessible to those who can’t afford a car or don’t drive due to age or disability. Alexander having done nothing to reverse the previous government’s appalling record
Will new rules for drivers in England prevent deaths on the road?
The new road safety strategy is a welcome shift to prevention, rather than punishment, for road fatalities.

Just seen a poor darling motorist complaining on fb that they should be allowed to park on the pavement on one side of the road, leaving the pavement on the other side for pedestrians. Like we should be grateful 🤬

Seems to me this article confirms what housing experts have been saying for a while. Even if the current situation eases slightly, we still need state intervention, particularly for first time buyers.

A good article.. and I agree that racism has changed, although I do find it interesting that white immigrants somehow still seem to be more “acceptable” to racists
Racism never went away – it simply changed shape
When the language of racism lost scientific legitimacy, it changed shape and began targeting cultures instead.

Quick analysis of The Times today:
Wall to wall negative coverage of Labour’s budget. An editorial that tuts about lack of growth but takes no responsibility. And a double page ad to join Farage/Reform.
Absolutely no analysis on how rightwing ideology - including Brexit - has been utterly ruinous.

What do they mean “land ‘identified and proven’ as a ‘viable location’ for sustainable housing”? Where’s the Local Plan and is this land identified for housing or not? I can’t believe the endless shilly-shallying in this country, about building homes for people!

As someone who lives in an affluent area I was somewhat surprised at the high profile of (lack of) public transport in this. I don’t drive so I’m considered at best an environmental eccentric and at worst a public transport nutcase.. sounds like I’m not alone.

This ..
The BBC is ours. It's ours to love. Ours to criticise. Ours to shout at when we feel in the mood.

And if Farage thinks that the way to win favour with voters is to stand around cheering as Trump takes down the BBC for $1 billion of personal enrichment then he's a bigger fool than anyone thought.

Rejoining would be great, however an aim is not a promise & neither is the Lib Dem’s view that we should do so when the time is right. Both parties appear to acknowledge that steaming in without taking people with us will just result in leaving again in a few years & that would be disastrous
Zack Polanski has just confirmed that rejoining the EU is an aim for the Green Party.

The Green Party is the only party promising this.

Reform has “undeclared the climate crisis” to try to find savings.
Wow. If only we’d known it was that easy. Don’t like it? Just “undeclare” it. Simples.
