I spent many happy working hours this summer preparing for an interview about the life and art of Jean Harlow, who I've worshipped and adored since I was a kid. It will be part of
@criterion.bsky.social's HELL'S ANGELS 4K/Blu-ray release in November. Details here: www.criterion.com/films/28987-...

I suspected as much! Glad to hear it.

really can’t say enough about how mike johnson is a sniveling little coward of a man. a bayou-bred pushover with a dignity deficit that would embarrass renfield

Q: Do you agree that the mayor of Chicago and governor of Illinois should be in prison?

MIKE JOHNSON: Should they be in prison? I'm not the attorney general. I'm not following the day to day on that

The Speaker of the House has firm views that Bad Bunny is a terrible pick for singing at the Super Bowl, but hasn't had time to watch the President's speech to our military leadership or form an opinion whether furloughed federal workers should be paid or Illinois' governor should be thrown in jail.

well for sure I am going to look at THAT

I want to urge anyone interested in FRANKENSTEIN to see it at a theater where the big screen will let you bask in the visuals. And do it soon after the movie opens (Oct. 17) because I don't think Netflix plans a long stay in cinemas.

I want to check this out when it comes to the Lightbox. This was made to be seen on the big screen

I've seen nature films of wolves (which are enormous! as a kid reading fairy tales I had no idea) chasing down field rodents!
selfstyledsiren.bsky.social
Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking of! Aren't a lot of terriers bred over centuries to go after rats?

My heart goes out to you, this is terrible. Please forgive the unasked-for suggestion, but — The Manhattan ACC is overflowing with cats that need homes? I am *terrified* of all rodents, but when we have a cat I never see them. I'm told certain breeds of dogs have the same effect?

As a romantic (in life) and a Romantic (in college studies) I loved Del Toro's Frankenstein—the sweep, the beauty and the headlong emotion of it. Its visual and thematic echoes range from Burke & Hare to Ingres to Hammer, but it's no pastiche—it's a vividly individual film.

“I found ‘One Battle After Another’ in 4DX to be slightly more suspenseful and slightly less funny than the other versions — when Bob (Leonardo DiCaprio) jumps out of a moving car ‘like Tom Cruise,’ it’s scarier in 4DX because the audience’s own chairs threaten to catapult them through the air.”

#OnThisDay in 1849, Edgar Allan Poe passed away under mysterious circumstances. Of all the artists who gave life to Poe's macabre tales over the years, perhaps none captured them quite so brilliantly as the Irish artist Harry Clarke: publicdomainreview.org/collection/h... #OTD #EdgarAllanPoe

With spooky season just around the corner we thought we'd share again this atmospheric and unique photo of the Undercroft.

This is possibly the only known photo showing the space partitioned, and looking as it would have done when it was an almshouse.
We are looking at a black and white photo showing a long room partitioned on one side with timber framed walls. There is a set of stairs through a doorway. The room has a series of windows and a set of three windows at one end. The floor is made up of cobble stones and is uneven .

One of those crime sagas that tells you so much about this city, that era, and what money/status got you (or could get you out of) then and now.
