This biggest problem in American politics is that there are a ton of Americans who listen to this and believe it, and believe anyone who tells them otherwise is lying to them out of either evil or a desire to take advantage of them. I'm not sure how you fix that—or fix the country while it's true.

Don't just say it's unconstitutional, remind people that the constitution is full of very good ideas designed to prevent authoritarianism, and most people who want to ignore it want that specifically because they are authoritarian.

An entire generation of people raised on memes and Fox News who are just completely unable to separate propaganda from reality. If there is a crisis, it’s epistemological. Fascists will try to bend reality to their ideology, but this always fails in the long run with tons of damage along the way.
