Pics from 4 of the 5 biggest geomagnetic storms so far from Solar Cycle 25. Alas, it was midnight sun season and cloudy during the biggest storm of the cycle in May 2024.
As solar maximum wains, we will see less big displays, but I bet we have a few shows left.

Went to my local library this morning to do a bit of research for my current book project and my goodness such a life-affirming space! There was an adult being taught to read on the next table, children enjoying story time, countless people taking out books. So grateful for our libraries ❤️

IC1848 - The Soul Nebula. I am officially blown away by the detail in my first real SHO image. This is just 30 mins on each filter. I can't wait to see the results when I get several hours on it.

In Sweden, the Administrative Court of Appeal in Sundsvall has rejected the licensed wolf hunt in Västmanland, ruling that there is no scientific basis for allowing hunting at such low levels. A promising step toward stronger safeguards for Sweden’s wolves.

How many wolves should Sweden have? All planned licensed hunting of wolves has been stopped and now a ruling has been issued in one instance concerning one county. The EU Commission has previously directed criticism at the country for risking the species’ viability.
