This is the line to Carnforth, which, per Wikipedia, would not have closed. Indeed, if the Settle & Carlisle had closed, this line would have carried Leeds to Carlisle services instead.

This is very kind. I have spent quite a bit of time in Japan, and I suppose not a small amount of time in China, so perhaps those experiences have subconsciously influenced me.
