On a bitterly cold but sunny day, Northern DMU 158794 rounds the bend from Giggleswick as it approaches Settle Junction working 2Y62 Morecambe to Leeds. A cleared semaphore awaits it.

Valley Signal Box and Semaphore, Anglesey. 17 June 2018. #railway #photography
Valley signal box by the level crossing viewed from the station of the same name on the North Wales Coast Line near Holyhead. Semaphore signal VY23 is at danger on the left, with a ground disc at its base. The track-facing side of the box was in need of some TLC at this point.

Semaphores at Park Junction. 21 April 2019. #railway #photography
Evidently somewhat diminished from their heyday, a pair of semaphore signals survive, each on their own bracket, at Park Junction in Newport. The one facing the camera is PJ78. A number of point rods are clearly visible running to the left of the tracks. These have since been removed.

@semaphoria.co.uk I promised a view of the American style Westinghouse 3-aspect signals used on London Underground & here, on the Ealing extension of the Central London Rly/Central line, is such a view c1920. They lasted until 1948 when resignalled to LT satndard. @jeremyzorek.bsky.social
Ab/w photo, credited to the London Underground Railway Society, of two American style Westinghouse Power Signal semaphore signals at Ealing Common on the 1920 extension of the Central London Railway(now Central line). The signals, number L13 on left and L12 on right, sit side by side betwqeen two railway tracks, on white posts with pointed finials. The left signal is raised to the upper position. Between is a sign "Warning - it is dangerous to step on or touch the conductor rails". The signals survived until 1948 when replaced and one from the installation survives at the LT Museum.

Working 1Z35 Wigan North Western to Carlisle, Avanti West Coast Evero 805005 and 805007 pass a cleared semaphore on a tall bracket at Appleby. The semaphores on the up lines are also cleared for an approaching Avanti service. The signal box - Appleby North - is on the right.
