Very obvious the trick with these films is it gets people into a cinema for whom 'going to the movies' is a once or twice a year treat, which is, to say, most people.
Looks like Avatar's got a good shot at a $2 billion total globally when all is said and done. It's arguably a more bankable franchise than the Avengers at this point.
