It’s as simple as this: Republicans are in control and they chose to shut down the federal government.
Republicans control every branch of federal government.

They chose to shut it down .

Good day to speak at the Career Academies Kickoff with @senatorgustafson.bsky.social. I proud to work with Heather to help prepare high school students for a career and get them connected to community employers.

In our Gun Violence Prevention Working Group, Sen. Liz Boldon reflects on the courage of gun violence survivors, and how we must stop expecting our children to be so brave.

"We should not be asking children to protect other children.

We should be doing that."

In the 60s and 70s, MN was home to a strong Chicano Movement, led in part by groups like the Brown Berets. Activists fought for bilingual education, farmworker rights, and against discrimination—laying the foundation for Latino civil rights advocacy. Their work continues to inspire new generations.

On this day of remembrance, take time to honor the victims and heroes of 9/11 and reflect on the strength that unites us as a nation.

I remember trying to figure out if colleagues were safe that day. Fortunately, they were physically safe, but so many were not. I think of all affected today.

In Minnesota we're clear: Vaccine access saves lives, and ensures kids can go to school, seniors stay healthy, and Minnesotans stay safe.

We won't let Trump and RFK Jr's abuse of power and attack on public health put Minnesotans at risk.
Senators Support New Executive Order Safeguarding Vaccines in Minnesota
I applaud Governor Walz for taking necessary action to protect access to life-saving vaccines in Minnesota. Vaccines are one of the most effective and life-saving tools in modern medicine and expanding and safeguarding access to them is critical to prevent the spread of disease and protect our communities. Preventive care should be available to all Minnesotans, and I support this executive order which will provide people across our state with certainty that their health and safety remain our priority.
HHS Committee Chair Melissa Wiklund. Senators Support New Executive Order Safeguarding Vaccines in Minnesota.
As an internal medicine physician during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic I witnessed firsthand the devastation that this virus inflicted before we had a vaccine. Countless lives were cut short, families torn apart, and people suffered immense pain. We have the tools to prevent that from happening again, through trust in science and proven vaccines, and the best medical research in the country here in Minnesota. This executive order makes sure that vaccines remain available to every Minnesotan, because we cannot go backward. Commerce Chair and physician Matt Klein

Fun to watch the Edison High School Cross Country teams compete in the rain today.

If you ever need a pick me up, find a cross country race and cheer loudly.

In the picture, the team is celebrating after the race.

Great efforts today team!

Happy Labor Day!

MN workers deserve fair pay, sick time, and dignity. We banned non-compete clauses, stopped wage theft, and expanded protections. Standing with those in Labor, I’ll keep working to make MN the best place to work and live.

Happy Labor Day! Minnesotan work hard, and deserve fair Pay for the work they do. this year, we passed laws to protect workers from wage theft, protected our ban on unfair, non-competes, secure the right to sick time, and so much more. Spring Manor will forever be home for many thanks to the investment of renovating 221 units and building 15 fully accessible units.

We must invest in housing everywhere and for everyone. Stable housing strengthens neighborhoods.

I’m happy that I could celebrate with Spring Manor today.

A fine rainy day to celebrate that Stone Arch Bridge is open! More celebrations need marching brass bands leading the way.

My predecessor Senator Kari Dziedzic secured the funds for the bridge preservation.

July is #DisabilityPrideMonth and Republicans in Congress just passed a bill that guts Medicaid, which funds 77% of services for people with disabilities. I’m fighting to protect access, independence, and dignity in Minnesota.
