If a company wants to use enormous amounts of electricity, it should pay its fair share and meet strong, enforceable standards. If you support protecting ratepayers and keeping costs down for families, call your state senator and urge them to sign on to the Ratepayer Protection Act.

The bill blocks large energy users from pushing infrastructure costs onto residents and requires that during grid emergencies, large, noncritical loads are curtailed first to keep homes, hospitals, and essential services powered.

At the same time we’re talking about the strain major industrial users put on water systems, families are already getting squeezed while industry absorbs almost none of the increase.

Let me be clear: a one-time payout to the Township or token “community fund” won’t protect the veterans living next door or the families who would bear the noise, diesel fumes, traffic, massive power and water demands, and the health impacts that come with them for years to come.
