There is no #EqualPayNY without #LatinaEqualPay. We need stronger laws and substantial investment in:

✅ Expanding Pay Transparency Laws
✅ Bringing women into higher paying roles
✅ Fair Pay for Care workers
✅ Making child care accessible to all
✅ Expanding Paid leave

Education is protection, and outreach is power. My bill ensures our Dept. of Health can provide regular and factual information about NYers rights, options, and resources. We urge the Gov. to sign all bills in this package and guarantee all NYers access to reproductive and gender-affirming care.

The package includes:

We’re calling on the PSC to pull National Grid’s last minute agenda item from today’s meeting. We don’t need a new gas pipeline now or ever.

Statement:
STATEMENT: Senator Kristen Gonzalez, Senator Julia Salazar, Senator Jabari Brisport, Assemblymember Sarahana Shrestha, Assemblymember Marcela Mitaynes, Assemblymember Claire Valdez, Assemblymember Phara Souffrant Forrest and Assemblymember Emily Gallagher Call on the Public Service Commission to Remove National Grid’s Gas Planning Forecast

As Democratic Socialist New York State legislators who have fought for the entirety of our terms against expanding fossil fuel infrastructure in this state, we strongly condemn the last-minute addition of National Grid's gas planning forecast to the PSC's Thursday meeting agenda. Let’s be clear: this is an attempt by National Grid to secure the PSC’s support for an unnecessary pipeline that will increase utility costs for everyday New Yorkers while boosting corporate profits and prolonging our state’s dependence on fossil fuels.

The scientific consensus on climate change demands that we move rapidly away from fossil fuel infrastructure, not expand it. New York does not need a new major gas pipeline. In fact, the DEC rejected the NESE pipeline five years ago. Yet, in the five years since, the gas shortages National Grid predicted have not occurred. Moreover, as laws like the All Electric Buildings Act go into effect, and more people switch to electric, National Grid and the PSC should be working toward a plan to shut down fossil fuel infrastructure like the Greenpoint Liquid Natural Gas facility, not build more.

We call on the PSC to remove National Grid’s gas planning forecast from Thursday’s agenda. We stand firmly with our communities, climate justice advocates, and the working people of New York who deserve a democratic energy planning process. Corporate interests cannot be allowed to circumvent democratic processes in pursuit of profit

Today I testified before the @NYCCouncil on the One LIC Rezoning Plan. Without binding investments this project will be a giveaway to developers. We need affordable housing, more school seats, open and arts spaces, and increased transit capacity. It’s what our neighbors deserve.

On 9/11, we remember the New Yorkers we lost. My heart is with the families who carry that grief, the first responders who put everything on the line, and all New Yorkers. Our city showed resilience then, and we must keep building a future rooted in care and community.
