State Senator proudly representing the Second Worcester District in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
This is yet another example of regulation falling behind the pace of technology. It is of the utmost importance that we pass my bill and a broader set of AI regulations to protect Bay Staters from the worst of this new era of tech.

The rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution are non-negotiable – the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will not let our Guard be illegally used against our own people.
January 6, 2026 at 9:01 PM
This is a pattern: Guard troops across the country are being asked to potentially violate the sovereignty of other states and the constitutional rights of ordinary Americans by a president who wants to use them like pawns in his game of intimidation.

The importance of this curriculum has never been more clear — President Trump's orders to deploy the National Guard to places like Chicago and LA are illegal, as ruled by a District Judge and upheld by the Supreme Court.

While the bill hasn't yet been passed by the House, I am hopeful that we will get this policy done this year to further protections for individuals with disabilities in the Commonwealth.

The law includes robust privacy protections for the public and also requires that each local police department make the final decision on whether to issue a fine.

I am so thrilled about this win for children's safety — I'm proud to have gotten this important policy past the finish line in 2025.

I'm so proud of this legislation, and I look forward to working with the House to get this bill to Governor Healey's desk. In a world where data breaches are a near-daily occurrence and tech companies constantly misuse your data, this action is urgent — let's get this done.

There is so much more to this bill, but here's the bottom line: if signed into law, the days of Big Tech acting as data vacuums and treating your data as theirs will be over in Massachusetts.

For children and teens online, the MDPA goes even further, wholesale banning the sale or transfer of their data as well as blocking the use of this information for targeted advertising.
December 30, 2025 at 10:00 PM
Most importantly, the MDPA will require companies ask you before collecting your data and disclose exactly what information they are gathering. There are additional protections for your most sensitive data, including biometrics, GPS location, and healthcare data.

A recent Boston Globe story shines a light on the inconsistent management structures and spending of these offices, putting Sheriffs’ departments even further under the microscope. When public dollars are being spent, it is our duty to ensure they’re being spent wisely.
Mass. sheriffs collectively pull in millions in civil process fees. They’ve paid for singers, parade floats, and a motor home. - The Boston Globe
The civil process money faces little to no state oversight, and while a portion of the fees are supposed to go to the state’s general fund, some sheriffs have a history of not making all their transfe...

By taking away our power to place reasonable guardrails around AI, the President is neutering our ability to defend Bay Staters against the worst drawbacks of this technology, including AI-generated deepfakes, predatory algorithms, dangerous misinformation campaigns, and more.

This order nothing less than a giveaway to the trillion-dollar Big Tech companies and ultra-wealthy CEOs that funded the President's campaign. One of the most basic functions of government is the power to protect its people.
