It was night, but I was not afraid. The moon had hid itself early as if to escape from the raucous gathering of which we were a part. Just as well. The fire burned itself down quickly and the stubborn amber glows left our imprints on the trees at the edge of the clearing. #SenseWrds Prompt 129

Gaelic goddess
Brigid emerges
on the night of
the harvest moon

Her cool blue eyes
set to unchain
magic upon
the unsuspecting

With sympathetic
oscillations of her
poetry she heals
moribund souls

Reignite her smoldering
fires, if you dare
the divinity of fire is
highly combustible

Breezes stir, leaves skittle, time to seek heartiness. Bourbon straight up, a meat heavy menu, roasted bones filled with savory gelatinous, thyme flavored fat. Crisp baguettes begging to soak up every drip. Camaraderie abounds, welcome scarves and a satisfying walk home. #SenseWrds #Writingprompts

His fingers tickle the keys like a sleeping infant. Warm, embracing, tender, an etude composed for one. #SenseWrds #Writingprompts

The dapple of dusk,
Reverberating outward,
Glowing coals of day.

the fire fading
a gentle, glow
crackling like a, song
memories dance
touching the depths
edges of my, soul

Fire’s almost out glowing orange red kindling
Casting puppets pantomime on the forest walls
I whisper secret wishes to the full October moon
And hear my voice come back to me as the nightingale calls

give me your voice that
ensnares me in smoke
and chains i cannot break
that stirs my tired heart
and body into glorious
wild desire and i will
serve you as you require
bend my knee to your claim
please dont leave me alone
please hear this poor mortals prayer

3a.m. the fire is dim
Black iron gets colder at the edges
And the nearly empty room
Sends back the squeal from the hinges
Wood dust and ash underfoot
My silhouette behind me
My feet resist every moment
Crossing the threshold
To find the fuel to start again

“I hate you”
bounces off
the cavern
walls
of
my body, brain,
reverberating
through
my heart-
a sharp arrow,
piercing

starry
isolation
following
the ends

Another week passed. People did what people did in that time, as they always did; they shopped, went to school, drove their cars, lied to each other, had arguments, and hurt one another. Standing on the walkway far above the enclosure, I wondered if they, as small as ants, had any clue that we were manipulating them with chemicals that subverted their ability to recall kindness. We had been doing it for just a few months now, but the outcome was clear. The chemicals of anger focused their seemingly limitless hatred to razor sharp points that they turned upon each other in horrible, yet fascinating ways. I felt some remorse that we did this, but my research notes had never been more full and complete.
