A podcast exploring and celebrating the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy.

COMING SOON TO A GALAXY NEAR YOU ….
Ultimately, the video is a personal testament to how TROS and the ST have connected with the presenter (and with so many others) on an intimate and emotional level. It is about rediscovery, identity, legacy, and the imperfect yet heartfelt nature of saying goodbye to a beloved story.

There’s specific note of Carrie Fisher’s final scenes, their emotional impact, and Leia’s legacy in the film. He highlights how respectful it was and the genuine emotional weight it imbues, providing a heartfelt farewell to our beloved princess, resonating beyond any perceived narrative flaws.

He then provides a defense of criticisms: Palpatine’s return as a narrative embodiment of legacy trauma and evil’s persistence; rebuttal of the “Mary Sue” label, emphasising Rey’s struggle with identity and power; and explains Rey’s adoption of Skywalker as a choice of identity, not bloodline.

So to summarise: The video begins by introducing The Rise of Skywalker as arguably the most controversial Star Wars movie. The presenter discusses the rushed production, rewrites, and pressures to conclude the saga noting how crucial this all is to understanding the movie’s flaws and strengths.

Happy to mate. So this is the final video in a series about the sequel trilogy. It focuses on TROS. I was originally a little hesitant. Even celebrations of the ST always seem to stick the boots into TRoS. In fact, the presenter acknowledges this, predicting his love for the film will be divisive.

Despite general online sentiment, I actually think Star Wars is at a real turning point. While the response has been muted, the last year has seen some of the most culturally relevant and creative projects in a long time - maybe ever. Moving forward I have a good feeling about where we’re headed.

Headland is absolutely spot on. The non-renewal may be understandable, but the swiftness and publicity of it was a clear dog whistle to the culture warriors.

The fact they thought this would do anything but encourage further toxic behaviour shows how out of touch Bob and his goon of morons are.
