They liked all the ideas of fascism, they just didn't want any of it applied to them. They only wanted it applied to the people they believed "deserved" it. That's the only reason they're now experiencing buyer's remorse.

Going to respectfully disagree. Them not being conscious of fascism does not mean that they didn't vote for fascism. They voted for all the ideals he presented. Just because it didn't come packaged to them under the label of "fascism" doesn't mean that wasn't what he was selling them.
