Can some of us come back?

I’m opposed to ethnonationalism but if there was some equivalent of Israel’s right of return I would be taking advantage of that immediately.

The notion that Bari will be "running CBS News" is slightly misleading. What the reporting suggests is that Tom Cibrowski, a guy with normal qualifications, will be doing that. Bari will be Emperor Ellison's Vader-esque enforcer, outside the chain of command, intervening at will.

This anti-smoking ad from the Minnesota Department of Health makes me want to take smoking. That is the coolest goat I have ever seen.

Jesus Christ. DHS has held this guy in the hospital handcuffed to a bed and under constant guard for over a MONTH without ANY warrant or even ANY steps taken towards putting him into the removal system!
Petitioner’s counsel has requested documentation of a judicial warrant for his arrest, any charging documents, or other authority supporting his detention. See Santiago Decl. ¶¶ 18–20. ICE has provided no response. Id. To date, ICE has not placed Petitioner in removal proceedings, charged him with violating immigration law, set bond, issued a Notice to Appear, or otherwise processed him. See Pet. ¶¶ 16, 49. In Respondent’s Opposition brief, the government states “ICE intends to take further action consistent with the laws prescribed under the Immigration and Nationality Act (“INA”) once Petitioner is released from medical care and it can conduct the examination as [prescribed] in 8 C.F.R § 287.3.” Opp. at 4. Neither Petitioner nor Respondents have provided the Court with information about Petitioner’s citizenship, whether he has violated any law or regulation, or any information that would suggest that Petitioner is a flight risk.

It's weird that people who move from a US state to China get to keep voting for the President and Congress but people living in Puerto Rico don't.

Even citizens who have literally never in the US get to vote in most states if their parents used to live there.

Every blue state should work to cripple the operations of their National Guard and start putting resources into a State Defense Force/State Militia.

There is no reason for blue states to maintain military forces that can be commandeered by federal government and placed under the control of Trump.
serow.bsky.social
The NG became something very different than militia when we decided they could be federalized and integrated with standing army. I'm talking about the state militias (now often called state defense forces) that 20 states have right now and many more had in the past. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_d...

Or that Bloomberg's Everytown funds the Trace, and Bloomberg once said the way to solve crime is to send cops into minority neighborhood and throw minority children up against the wall? I'd feel weird writing about race and guns while being employed by a couple of inveterate racists like those two.

When you are writing about race and gun control, does it every come up that the president of your newsroom is John Feinblatt, the policy advisor that came up with Michael Bloomberg's stop and frisk policy?

this is wild: while Stephen Miller's guy was in Minnesota for his uncle's funeral, somebody was able to see his entire phone and take pictures of his Signal group chats talking about military deployments to Portland, and brought them to the Strib (gift link: www.startribune.com/trump-offici...)

Or maybe I’m misunderstanding. If it’s abandoned doesn’t mean control of the brand reverts back to him?
serow.bsky.social
I know part of the issue with the valuation of the previous bids was that the trustee selected the bid that was worth half as much as the losing bid in terms of how much it would pay off his debt.

If his estate abandons ownership of the brand does that mean that when it gets sold it won’t go toward paying off his debt to the Sandy Hook families?

Which candidates want to demilitarize law enforcement? I’ve literally never seen an assault weapons ban that didn’t have an exception for cops.

The majority of people do not have the practical option of leaving, and the majority of self defense situations aren’t “30 ICE agents coming through your door”.
