Sinners, man - let’s just let Ryan Coogler make whatever films he wants to make in whatever way he wants to make them. That one is going to stay with me for a long time.

Maybe the only AI feature we need integrated into all of our software is the way that the bots gas you up.

Because the opening credits for A Different World start playing in my head randomly from time to time, I watched them on YouTube just now. It still hits! The music, the shot composition - just great. My favorite show of my childhood.

Thinking about the Pokemon Center issues (and really everything related to supply), if only TPCi had some way of identifying the people who Play! Pokemon and some point system for figuring out how much they play. If they had such a system, they could provide priority access for buying cards.

There are two kinds of people in this world: those who can keep track of their ear buds, and deranged psychopaths.

We got the Sam Rockwell monologue and the Lumon marching band in the same week. Just think about that for a second.

I’ve been playing a spicy Tsareena ex deck for the last few months, so I feel like I can say this conclusively: it is not good…but it is very fun. Current build with Gravity Mountain & Lively Stadium was described as “evil” At a cup this weekend by the guy I was playing against.

Definitely seems like PTCG is still primarily on Twitter, and I get why the big accounts are reluctant to switch…but also an opportunity to build a following on here for an up & comer.
I think one of the things keeping me from fully leaving Twitter is that my feed here isn't great. Part of it will improve with time but some of what I'm looking for just isn't here. We need more PTCG players PTCGTwitter is great but I'd like to see it without all the fascism attached.

We honestly don’t know what Pokémon looked like, we’re just guessing that we put their bones together correctly

People I have been told I look like: Jim Carrey, Woody the Cowboy...and as of my most recent Pokemon tournament appearance, Ryan Reynolds...or was it Ryan Gosling? No, it was Ryan Reynolds. Read all about it & many other goodies in this month's Pursuit of Play: www.routine-chaos.com/pursuit-of-p...
Pursuit of Play, volume 5: Oddities
Maybe you heard that Ryan Reynolds showed up at the Stuttgart Pokemon tournament?

Listening to the bonus content for This American Life Partners & thinking about how there’s a trend emerging where we pay to opt out of algorithmic curation…because the algorithms are optimized for engagement, not enjoyment or satisfaction.

Something I'm thinking about today: according to "Making of the Atomic Bomb", Nobel Laureate Niels Bohr struggled with written expression...so maybe the idea of supporting multiple forms of literacy shouldn't be so controversial? We've found ways to allow it for the privileged anyway....

Hey SFF fiction editors, I have a modest proposal for YOU this year that would tangibly help the Chinese authors affected by the Hugo mess: if you publish original fiction, make one of those stories a translation from the leaked longlist, or a different story by one of those authors!

This thing with the Hugo’s is a giant mess, so I’m just going to share all of the winners and ineligibles that I read.

Dropped some new #ssp burrs in my grinder, and I’m amazed at how much of the range they open up for filter coffee. I am literally grinding about 20 steps finer than I had been and still getting faster, cleaner extractions. I knew the stock burrs were producing too many fines but not how bad it was.

Saw the Ivo van Hove production of Jesus Christ Superstar last night. I’ve never seen such a visceral staging of that show. Really incredible. Get seats on the podium if you can.

I write a newsletter sometimes. This one features a video of my actual design studio, and the fact that I have my own little space and don’t just work from home anymore makes this whole thing feel a lot more real:

I've avoided posting anything here, because whatever I post would be my first post, so even though no one would see it right now, it would always be my first post.
But my oldest child went and won the #PlayPokemon Dortmund regional tournament this weekend, so I figure that's worth commemorating.
