Being accused of "being fake" or "hiding behind a smile" is what causes this cognitive dissonance, and I've dealt with that in the form of mental abuse and gaslighting as a kid. Like, I'm not ALLOWED to be ok sometimes & move along with life while at the same time being NOT OK with specific things.

Real talk: Back when I posted about 'compartmentalization' I did not fully know how true it is. I read more about it recently. I do have CPTSD and unsurprisingly it hit me that I created alts to allow myself to _persevere_ while experiencing negative feelings and situations "on main". 😐 #personal 🧵
