Many people mistake Democracy for being a 'fair' playing field upon which one idea can win absolutely over others (which is their goal.) It is not. It seeks to strike a balance, and our Constitution is that humility, codified.
adjusted for population inflation, we'd have 90. There were nine justices starting in 1868, and America had about 31 million people. Times 10, you've got about that population now. everything should adjust for inflation.
