Sovereign citizens are an outgrowth of the same thing. "If a legal document doesn't write my name with special punctuation, it doesn't count." When they're losing, they invent imaginary new rules and say the opposition is invalid for their failure to adhere to those new rules (which then vanish).

This works for Republicans in part because major media outlets pretend that these rules could be valid, so the public thinks "hey, there's a dispute, it's unclear." It's been hours, and the Times doesn't appear to have yet deemed it newsworthy that Trump says everything Biden did is null and void.

Were this 17-point swing to occur uniformly in every Congressional district as now drawn, the result would be approximately 264 D seats, 171 R seats, a 51-seat shift. TX gerrymandering gains would be limited to 2 seats; NC/MO, backfire.

Not to say this will happen, just to illustrate the impact.
