When I was in grad school in 1994, I saw Maya Angelou speak and recite her poetry. I was able to meet her and tell her that she was an inspiration to women with #turnersyndrome like me, because of facing adversity in her own life. She signed my copy of her poem. She said “Strength and laughter.”
