perhaps a small treat for christmas, since I don't have anything to post as of yet, but it's coming i promise!

a #jayvik post canon character study i'm working on, exploring Jayce's disability and depression, with a small dose of conflict, confrontation, and growth (and frotting, of course)
very now and again, over the past months, Jayce sees flashes of the man he had known. And just as he himself had changed under the distant but watchful gaze of the Mage and the hungry, harrowing void of the arcane amalgamations, enduring what seemed to be a never-ending torment, Viktor had morphed into someone new. He seems to be unimpeded by his past woes and ailments. While Jayce is grateful that he doesn't have to watch his ex-partner wither away before his eyes, the dynamic of their positions being swapped is not something that is eagerly accepted on his behalf. He's happy that Viktor can move and walk and breathe and live without the abject pain and torment of his previous, inarcane body, but now their positions seem to have been swapped. Every day, Jayce wakes with the selfish, morbid thought: when can I go back? Jayce lets himself meet Viktor's judgemental gaze and challenges him, trapping him in a childish staring contest until his will falters and Jayce pitifully averts his gaze to the worn and fraying blanket in his lap, playing with a loose thread between his fingers. "And here I thought I was going to get lucky and be graced with your presence when I saw you awake before sunrise." Viktor says, accusatory; just a little too monotonous to be at all familiar. "Fuck off, Viktor." Jayce replies earnestly. "It's been ten months, Jayce." Viktor stares over his shoulder at some point he can't discern and is unwilling to turn around to try and figure it out. "What?" Jayce asks, confusedly screwing up his face. "Since we've arrived here. It's been six since you've come outside during the day. Three since you've come outside at all."
