Vell, Zhadow’s just zhis guy, you know?
In the Star Trek novel “Imzadi” the writer named all the members of a group of bad aliens after the items on a Passover Seder plate. Seriously.

Of course, since Congress hasn’t declared war and a president has no authority to declare it unilaterally, technically it’s not really a war crime. Just straight-up premeditated murder. Like all the other attacks.

Also a violation of Art. 3(1)(a) of the Geneva Conventions, which prohibits “violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds” against “Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including… those placed ‘hors de combat’ by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause.”

Happy (belated) birthday!

Just realized how judgy that sounded. I really did mean “alternative,” not “only acceptable.” There are plenty of worse chains.

Alternative pro-tip: don’t patronize a chain that donated tens of thousands of dollars to the GOP, closed locations rather than comply with federal COVID-19 vaccine mandates, and forbade employees from wearing protective face masks. (And is allegedly anti-LGBTQ+.)

Interestingly enough, they actually proved this theory mathematically a couple of years back… and they very recently *dis*proved it mathematically. Fascinating stuff!

Thank you very much for trying.

You are still the best kind of people.

Gosh, it’s almost as if Hegseth explicitly told us that he’d be violating the Geneva Conventions and all other rules of engagement.

I’ll look forward to giving it a try.

Hey, how come I haven’t read anything of yours yet?

We could.

We won’t.

Good luck…

I’ve rarely seen a time-travel story that stayed consistent with whatever rules it invented. I don’t care what the justification is, but I do care that it makes internal sense.

…to a line from the Beatles movie “A Hard Day’s Night” where some reporter asked George Harrison what he called his haircut and he said, “Arthur.” Similarly, when someone asked what they should call the new improv form someone else said, “Harold.”

I like my incorrect history better.
November 30, 2025 at 6:33 AM
I am virtually certain that is not the case. I used to think it came from the book “Harold and the Purple Crayon,” because the first time I ever saw it was with the improv troupe Purple Crayon.

Apparently it was actually invented back in 1967, and the name is an oblique reference…

Yeah, I’m sure the DoJ will get right on that. Oh, wait.
